Last Monday at our chapter meeting, we were visited by a special guest, Jeff Back. Jeff is an alumnus of SigEp and a member of the national’s board. During our meeting, we gave Jeff the opportunity to talk to our chapter. He talked to us primarily about Ruck, and talked about Carlson and Conclave, as he is a more recent SigEp alumni. Jeff also made this surprising announcement during his visit to our chapter. He started my congratulating the two members in our chapter who applied for Tragos Greece trip, briefly talking about how happy he was to see two of our brothers working towards the trip. He then said that one of them would be attending the trip. That brother would be Alejandro Torres.
Alejandro joined Illinois Beta in the Fall of 2020. Currently in his Junior year of college here at Illinois Institute of Technology, Alejandro is pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering. Within our chapter, he serves as our Vice President of Member Development. Outside of SigEp, he is a member of the cross-country team on campus. Alejandro is constantly breaking school records and personal records every time that he competes.
When Jeff made the announcement that Alejandro was selected to go to the trip this summer, Alejandro was absolutely speechless. Being selected to attend the Tragos Trip means the world to Alejandro. Back when he joined, Alejandro immediately began to love the Balanced Man Program and said that SigEp as a whole was about bringing together very like-minded and outstanding men. Alejandro is excited to attend Tragos because he feels that it will continue to help build himself as a better man as a continuation of what SigEp already does.
We are all excited for Alejandro to attend Tragos this summer, especially since he is the first to go in our chapter’s history. Make good use of your backpack and we expect a lot of pictures on your return. Enjoy your time in Greece and stay safe brother!
